Version 0.42 is out!

Hey there! Happy new year! I wanted to have more content available for the next update but it's been a while since my last update and there are too many grammar fixes and adjustments that I feel need to be in the public version of the demotape already. I've started keeping more detailed notes about what I changed so you can find those below. The hope is for those who are translating Songs we Sing to have an easier time focusing in on what needs updating instead of just running through all the text again. Also these notes help me give some insight on why I'm changing something.

Hopefully next time I can really expand the bestiary and create a nice catalogue of items you may find in Wake!

Lets have a great 2024!

v042 changelog

-Updated Name section in character creation to specify that last names do not exist
-Made bestiary descriptions of deities, constructs, beasts, chimera, and kin more succinct
-Updated description of the move CLASH to specify that GM chooses a consequence.

-Updated Knight moves:
>The Tower - Changed effect completely to turn knight temporarily into a maneater. Prior effect was too complicated and niche.
>Tune - Changed “Signature instrument” to proper term “Named Instrument”
>Removed Awakened Blade since it’s redundant with the “Willful” instrument tag and knights already have a move that gives them access to another motif. Also knights have a lot of moves in their playbook already, so for now I’m opting not to replace it.
>Godsbane: Added +1 forward on attacking songs to improve the benefits of this move.

-Updated Courier moves:
>changed song effect “Escape” to “escape confinement”
>changed song effect “Find a path” to “Create a trap” since “locate something” already covered this effect’s purpose. This also gives courier’s song moves an indirect offensive option that aligns with its themes of utilizing the land.
>Experienced camper: Added “You can also improvise tools form the land to make up for any that are missing” to expand utility.
>Changed name of “Wellspring” to “Sight-reading” and changed wording for brevity.
>Replaced “Camouflage Mantle” with “Mail Satchel” and removed “Stamp Collector” move due to redundancy.

-Updated Alchemist moves:
>Moved Quick Study to level 6+ moves list
>Updated Crescendo to improve effects of 12+ song moves along with making the song effect their own.
>Updated doublespeak for clarity.
>updated alchemy requirement from “This will require many resources” to “This will require certain resources”

-Updated Orator moves:
>Updated Orator Library’s wording to be less awkward.
>Changed the name of “Second Mask” to “Masquerade” and moved it to level 6 and up moves to align with moves that have similar effects. Also removed slight amount of flavor text from beginning since it didn’t feel evocative enough.
>Added “Copycat” move
>updated trigger on Song move “Oration” to “When you speak with your motif to Invoke the past” to “-To give power to your words”
>Updated song effects form “-Learn something hidden” to “-Urge out information”

-Updated Reverie Moves:
>Changed wording on “Daydreams” move for brevity.
>Changed “Weather Report” move to add a song effect instead of its original effect.
>Updated wording on “Flight” for brevity.
>Updated hair description wording.

-Updated Auditor Moves:
>Added “Howl” move
>Moved “Sensitive Ears”
>Updated “Prey Drive” to just give +1 forward against who it tracks.

-Updated Armature Moves:
>Changed name of “Past life” to “Random Access Memory” and updated wording for brevity.
>Updated wording on “Overdrive” for brevity.

-Updated Merchant Moves:
>Removed “Side gig” because it just doesn’t quite feel exciting enough to include.
>Added “-or upgrade-” to the trigger for “Craft” move.

-Updated Tailor playbook:
>Updated options for possible motifs and clothing styles
>General grammar updates for clarity
>Changed name of “Spider’s Child” to “Webworker”
>Updated move “Protective Sigil” to combine both options on the effect as well as add flavor to the description
